Tennis – Former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard was forced to withdraw from her first ITF tournament in a year at the $100K ITF event in Cagnes-sur-Mer earlier this week due to an abdominal injury. The former World No.

5 has struggled in recent years and decided to take a step back and play the lower-level events to regain some of her confidence. But before her first round match against another former Top 10 player – the German Andrea Petkovic, Bouchard withdrew after suffering from abdominal pain during her warm up session prior to her match.

The Canadian is also scheduled to play another ITF event in Slovakia next week and is also on the list for the qualifying draw for the French Open later this month. It remains to be seen if the injury will affect her participation in those events as well.
